Y&R Recap – June 5: Billy Reveals Jill’s Illness, Devon Pushes Mamie to Sell Her Stake in Chancellor-Winters, and Chelsea and Adam Face a Setback

The Genoa City Athletic Club (GCAC)
Devon and Nate are having lunch in the dining room. Devon is surprised that Nate has time to have lunch; he figured Nate would be hanging out with his new pal Audra. It’s his not-so-subtle way of asking what’s going on with them.
Nate says Audra is in Paris right now dealing with some Glissade business.
Devon is surprised. He thought Audra and Tucker were done.
Nate says Tucker and Audra are finished personally, but he doesn’t know about their business arrangements.
Devon tells Nate that he might want to keep his distance; any connection she has to Tucker can’t be good, and with whatever she’s doing in Paris, she’s probably more trouble than she’s worth!
Nate says Devon and Lily have made their opinions clear on Audra, but he thinks they should be talking about Billy instead. Nate reached out to the offices that Billy had visited, and the higher-ups seemed charmed by him; it sounded like Billy put on a good show.
Devon’s sure he did, but suggests that the company heads are also aware of the power struggles going on behind the scenes and are being nice to Billy just in case.
Nate isn’t too worried. He doesn’t think Billy’s made enough headway to try to stage a coup.
Devon notices Mamie walk into the club. He tells Nate he hopes she’s not there to cause trouble.
Mamie approaches their table and says she just flew in from Detroit. She asks if they can get Lily to join them; she needs to speak to them all.
Billy walks into Lily’s office and says hello. He seems down.
Lily asks what he’s doing there… She thought he was on his “Billy Abbott suck-up tour.” Did he run out of important asses to kiss?
Billy says he cut his trip short. He needs to have a conversation with Lily, and it needs to be private.
Adam’s Apartment
Adam and Chelsea enter Adam’s apartment, talking about how disappointed they are.
Chelsea says they need to keep it together for Connor’s sake.
Adam says he might be done putting a positive spin on everything. He can’t take the fake smiles and false optimism anymore; after what happened today, he can’t pretend like everything will be okay!
He drops an unopened gift bag that he’d prepared for Connor in the trash.
Chancellor-Winters
Lily tells Billy they shouldn’t be having yet another private conversation. Doesn’t he realize he’s fueling distrust by doing this?
Billy asks her to hear him out.
Lily doesn’t want to after what Jill and he had done; she’s not sure who she feels more betrayed by! Jill entrusted her to run Chancellor and ChanceComm, but now she handed the whole thing off to Billy!
Billy says he just found out about this now, and he’s betraying his mother’s trust by telling Lily about it, but he thinks she should know. He takes a deep breath and has a hard time getting the words out… His mom is sick.
The GCAC Dining Room
Mamie asks Devon if he’ll call Lily or whether she should call her and invite her.
Nate says Lily is at the office, and they should be getting back to the office themselves.
Mamie wanted to keep this away from the office, but if it’ll speed things along, she’ll join them there.
Devon hopes Mamie didn’t come back to cause trouble; they’d made it clear about where they stand on her ideas about Chancellor-Winters.
Mamie says she heard them, but she didn’t want to meet with them about her vision for the company. She can’t pretend it didn’t hurt when they ganged up on her, though.
Nate says that’s not what it was.
Mamie knows she can be a piece of work. She says she wanted to reunite their family, and she did some good by convincing them to bring Nate back to the company or at least nudged them in the right direction.
She says she kept nudging, though, until things got off track, and that’s why she’s there… What can she do to set things right? As much as she loves the company, she loves her family more.
