JULIE CHRISLEY WAS PHYSICALLY ILL WHILE BEHIND BARS DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT

Since her parents’ imprisonment began, Savannah Chrisley has been speaking out about inhumane prison conditions, which affect millions of people

behind bars. As her mother Julie Chrisley awaits news of her future imprisonment following her appeal, Savannah is opening up about her mother’s

experience becoming sick due to excessive heat in the facilities.

After her parents were first sentenced to their lengthy prison stays, Savannah Chrisley revealed that she had previously been “tone deaf” to the prison system.

She opened up about her ignorance on an episode of her podcast Unlocked.

“I was tone deaf to the system,” she shared. God has put us in this place now to where we know better, we do better, and now, I can be a voice for over two million people that are incarcerated today.”

Her father Todd Chrisley was also open about the conditions he faced.

“There are recordings of staff members here talking about, ‘He needs to be humbled. What we need to do is we need to put him in diesel therapy and put him in shackles. Let him ride around the country for a time, and then bring him back and that will humble him,’” Todd told NewsNation in December.

The father of five went into detail about the “out of date” food he’s had to eat as well.

“It is so disgusting filthy,” he confessed. “The food is literally, I’m not exaggerating – the food is dated. It is out of date by, at minimum, a year. It’s a year past expiration.”

Todd alleged that the prison staff were “starving men to death.”

“These men are getting, I don’t know, they are getting a thousand calories a day,” he explained.

Now, as Savannah continues to be a “voice” for the incarcerated, she’s sharing the hardships her mother has faced as well.

She opened up about a recent visit she took to see her mother.

“I was able to see her and that was really tough because I was sitting in that visitation room and there was one family and you could tell that the young teenage kids were just struggling a lot,” Savannah shared. “And they ended up screaming at their mom and leaving in tears. The mom was in tears. They were in tears. The whole thing was just so heartbreaking.”

“And then you had another family, they were so happy and hugging and laughing because it was their last visit before she went home,” Savannah recalled.

But she added that the visitation would be a particular relief for her mother, who has been suffering from sickness due to the heat in the prison facility.

“It was also tough too because in the visitation room, thank goodness, there’s air conditioning. But outside the visitation room there is zero air conditioning. And the heat index was 105, 110 [degrees] and that’s what Mom’s living in, is in conditions like that with absolutely no air,” Savannah shared.

“And it can be 100 degrees inside the building. She literally said that she got physically sick because she got so hot. So, you have these women who are suffering from heat exhaustion and they’re passing out,” Savannah continued.

“But yet, there’s service dogs that have air conditioning. None of it makes sense to me.”

She went on to speak out about the conditions, slamming them for being inhumane.

This isn’t the first time Savannah has spoken out about the system’s treatment towards her father. The USA Network star recently took to Instagram to rant about things she overheard from the facility.

According to Savannah, the staff were trying to have Todd removed under “staff safety” protocol.

Savannah alleged they only wanted to remove him because the Chrisley family were becoming more vocal about the Federal Prison Camp’s “corruption.”

“Well, let’s make this very clear,” Savannah ranted last month. “Staff safety is BS.”

“They’re going to use the excuse of safety for the correctional officers, but let’s face it, the correctional officers – their safety is not in jeopardy,” she added.

The Chrisley Knows Best star went on to detail even more of what Todd and the other inmates have been dealing with behind bars.

“It’s the men that are there, they are being abused by these guards,” Savannah confessed. “There have been sexual assaults. There have been guards holding food starving these people.

“I have another reporting of a guard stating that he was going to go and take all the food out of a guy’s locker and just ‘do him a favor,’” she continued.

Savannah also revealed the guards were not only stealing food, but stealing cell phones and selling them “for their own benefit” as well.

She ranted, “At one point you stole all the tide pods, and men weren’t able to do their laundry for a week.”

The Georgia native ended her video questioning: “When does our government start standing up and doing what’s right, instead of protecting the people we shouldn’t be protecting?”
