At the ranch, Claire is shaken up and tells Nikki and Victoria she doesn’t even want to think about what happened in that basement today. Nikki replies, “None of us do.” Victoria takes Claire’s hands. Her daughter asks her to stay. She wants the three of them to be together. Nikki agrees. “Let’s just be together as a family.”

Victoria sits with Claire on the sofa and tells Nikki that they ran into Summer, Kyle, and Harrison at the coffee house this morning. “She finally got to meet one of her cousins.” Victoria goes on about how good Claire was with Harrison. The young woman finds it strange getting to know the new family members after reading about them all these years. She hated the Newmans for what they had, but she didn’t see the love. Jordan only wanted her to see the messy and sordid things, “But there’s so much more to you… all of you.” Nikki muses about families being complicated. Victoria tells Claire she’s a Newman now, and Nikki assures her they always protect their own. “I don’t want you to be anyone other than who you are.” Claire grew up knowing she was related to the Newmans, “But definitely not one of them.” She used to dream of being included… of being in the pictures. “Who I could have been.” Nikki tells her she’s a part of them now and Jordan can never take that away.

Claire yawns and Victoria says she’s going to go and try to get some rest. Nikki says she’ll be right behind her, but stays a moment to hug Claire and urge her to try and get some good sleep. Once alone, Claire looks at the family portrait on the mantle before getting comfortable on the couch. She closes her eyes…

Claire awakens to Victor telling her it’s time for breakfast at the club and the whole family is waiting for her. When she questions him, he reminds her they’ve done this dozens of times — ever since she was a baby in a baby seat. He has to go to the office, so will see her at the club later, “OK, Eve?” Claire asks, “Eve?”

Claire arrives at the Athletic Club to Summer and Abby calling, “Eve! Over here!” They squeal as they get up to hug her and urge her to sit down for some girl talk before everyone gets there. They gush about Cabo and their resort. Claire asks, “What was your favourite part?” They talk about ‘Eve’ being on the dance floor with a man, and how she’s always the happiest person in the room. Claire asks, “You like me? I’m fun?” Summer tells her everyone know she’s the most fun Newman… and the most fashionable and charming. “You are the best cousin ever!” they exclaim. Abby recalls ‘Eve’ getting straight As in boarding school. Cole and Nick walk in. Claire greets her dad and Nick complains about Cole beating him at racquetball. The men ask about the girls’ trip and remark on the three of them being inseparable. Summer recalls that the only time they weren’t was when Abby slept with her husband, but Eve brought them back together and made peace. Nick alludes to Eve being his favorite niece.

When Summer calls to the waitress to order drinks, the woman turns and it’s Jordan. Sinister music plays. Claire concentrates hard and Jordan disappears. Claire smiles.

The talk at the table resumes with Cole chatting about Eve’s fascination with lightening bugs when she was a child. Abby next tells a story about Eve catching the bouquet at one of Nikki and Victor’s weddings. Summer laughs that when she was her Maid of Honor at her wedding in Milan, she refused to catch the bouquet even when she threw it right at her! Abby spouts that Eve tried to talk her out of doing the Naked Heiress thing. Devon shows up to join them and Summer says they’re telling their favorite Eve stories. Devon remembers when she surprised Dom in the park in a full dinosaur costume. Abby wonders where they champagne is and Adam walks up. Eve gawps, “You work here?” Adam couldn’t get a better job after Eve turned him into the police. Abby pipes up, “Not once, but twice.” Adam points out he was cleared of all charges both times, but it tanked his career. Summer clears her throat, “About that champagne?” Adam grunts, “I’m on it.”

Suddenly, Mariah arrives, followed by her twin sister. Mariah gushes, “Cassie, you made it!” They hug and then sit down.

Claire gawps, “Cassie, you’re… Nevermind.” Summer teases that Eve has her head in the clouds today. Cassie laughs, “Today and every other day.” She recalls how she used to babysit Eve when Cole and Victoria would go out on date nights. Sharon appears, greets her daughters, and Mariah excuses herself to go check in with Tessa, who is home with Aria. Nick and Sharon smooch and Claire asks how long they’ve been back together. Nick chuckles, “Since before you were born.” Sharon gushes about Claire’s wonderful kindergarten class and tells her that one of her students is coming now. Harrison runs up to Claire and Kyle walks over to Summer, who kisses her husband. Nikki and Victor show up next and tell Claire that her mother is picking up something for her on her way. They gush about her being special and a championship rider. Victor tells Claire not to take it easy on him in their next chess game. Victoria appears with balloons and everyone shouts, “Happy Birthday!” Claire lights up.

Claire apologizes after getting emotional. Cole and Victoria recall her birth. It was the best day of their lives and also the scariest. Cole is chuffed that they got to take her home, healthy and strong. From that day forward she’s been nothing but pure love. He gifts her with an advanced copy of this latest book dedicated to her. “To my beloved daughter, Eve Newman Howard. My pride, my joy, my truest inspiration.” Everyone applauds and hug. As everyone needles Nick about his dad jokes, Adam reappears and apologizes for the delay. “Here come your libations now.” Jordan appears, wheeling an IV and chuckles, “I don’t need to ask who this is for.”

Claire concentrates but Jordan tells her she can’t wish her away. Claire stomps over and says, “You can’t be here.” Jordan cackles, “But I am here. Deal with it.” She mocks her for being so desperate to get rid of her. Claire says this is the life she was meant to have, “You can’t take it from me.” She has her life back now in spite of her. Jordan seethes, “If you really want it that badly, come fight for it!” Claire follows her into the jazz lounge.

In the jazz lounge, Claire is greeted by the doll with the bloody tear from the lake house. Jordan says, “This is not your life, it’s a fantasy. It’s a dream that will go poof and go away.” Claire complains that Jordan taught her lies; how to hate. “You never taught me how to love.” Jordan fumes that Claire tossed her away. Apparently, what she really wants is pony rides and party clothes. She reminds her of the facts about the Newmans. They robbed and cheated each other. “That’s who they are. That’s who you choose to be with?” Claire says yes, “And they chose me too.” Jordan warns they’ll show their true colors. They rejected her. Claire argues they’re not perfect, but neither is Jordan. At least they try to be better. “Nothing you say matters anymore. You’re trying to avenge someone who died decades ago, who doesn’t even need avenging.”

Jordan snaps at her to respect her grandmother, Eve. Claire tells Jordan she’s so obsessed with this that her life is small and petty. “Where is the joy?” Jordan finds the prospect of destroying those people extremely joyful. Claire says she can’t be saved. She wasted every second of her life. “It’s too late for you.” Jordan tells her she’s forgetting that she’s unstoppable. “I’m not finished. There’s a lot more to burn down.” Claire asks what that means. Jordan tells her she’s forgotten where she came from. “What I made you into, who you are. I changed the course of your life and I can do it again.” Claire snaps that she’s going back to her family. Jordan says they’ve brainwashed her. Claire argues, “You brainwashed me.” She taunts, “You can’t hurt me anymore, so just go to hell!” She walks up the stairs, turns, and Jordan is gone.

Claire returns to the dining room, where Adam stops her. She asks, “What do you want?” Adam warns her to work on her poker face. “Even if you don’t want to admit it, you are more like me than the rest of them know.” Claire asks if he thinks she deliberately sabotaged him. He muses, “The facts are the facts.” Claire wants to keep her family safe and keep things right. Adam says, “Keep telling yourself.” He can see her dark streak. If she were ever to let that out, this town wouldn’t stand a chance. “You’d be a force to be reckoned with.” Claire informs him that they’re nothing alike. “You can’t change, and I already have.”

Claire rejoins the family and the happy chatter at the table starts up again. She beams.

As the party continues, Summer says they have to do the tradition. Nikki explains that Eve started it when she was around Harrison’s age. Eve gave other people her wishes since she had everything she wanted. Now they do it every year. Victoria and Cole prompt ‘Eve’ to make a wish. She says she has everything she could ever want or need. “You’re all welcome to my wishes.” Abby wishes for a baby brother or sister for Dominic. Summer gawps, “You stole our wish!” Kyle adds, “A baby brother or sister for Harrison.” Nick says there’s no rule that they can’t both have that. Mariah wishes for her sister Cassie to always be as happy as she is today. Cassie says, “Back at ya, sis.

Sharon asks Nick, “What do you wish for?” Nick first wants to ask them all something very important, “How does a pickle celebrate it’s birthday? It relishes every moment! Boom!” Everyone groans. Sharon wishes ‘Eve’ a year full of happiness, love, and free coffee for the rest of the month. Victor toasts to his family being happy, wealthy, and healthy. They all enthuse. Cole says, “So, Eve. Are you sure that you have everything that you want? There must be something out there that you wish for.” Claire stands up and says she’s blissfully happy to be there with all of them as part of this incredible family. “But if I had one wish… I wish…”

Suddenly, Claire awakens from her dream on the sofa in the ranch living room. She calls, “Mom? Mom!” Victoria appears and asks if she had a bad dream. Claire looks at the photo, in which she’s not present, and asks her mother to hold her. Victoria wonders how long it will be before they can rest easy again.
