‘Blue Bloods’ cast members react after filming final episode

The “Blue Bloods” fan base, which includes many Globe readers, has some grieving ahead of them, when the last episodes of the 14th season run on CBS in the fall. Despite lobbying by its stars for more seasons, CBS is eager, as one executive put it, “to refresh the schedule.”

But this week, the show’s finale was filmed, which means the cast is already in grief mode. A few emotional farewells have shown up on social media.

“Not sure I have the words to describe how I feel about today, or the last 14 years on this special ‘Blue Bloods’ journey,” Donnie Wahlberg wrote, “but I do know how incredibly thankful I am for every moment of it. To the cast, the crew, the guest cast, every background actor, writer, producer and every member of every single dept — thank you.”

Wahlberg also thanks the fans, as well as the NYPD, saying “I hope we did you proud.”

Vanessa Ray shared a photo of her, Wahlberg, and Marisa Ramirez hugging, with the words “last day feels” and “I love them so much it hurts.” And Ramirez wrote, “I don’t have the words yet to express my joy or my sadness.”
