Chicago Fire Hires a New Chief

It has now been revealed that Dermot Mulroney, the versatile actor who you will likely recognize from ’90s romantic comedies, will play Chief Dom Pascal in NBC’s procedural drama Chicago Fire. In recent months, the show has suffered some controversial exits by series regulars, but it has also seen returns and newcomers, with Mulroney just the latest to be announced. The 1990s heartthrob joins the team of firefighters that headline the hugely successful procedural drama that’s currently in its 13th season.

As reported by Variety, Mulroney will join the ranks of the Chicago Fire Department at Firehouse 51 for its upcoming season, which will premiere next September. Chicago Fire tells the story of the workers in the fictional firehouse who must deal with different threats and issues in every episode. It centers around the lives of firefighters and rescue personnel as they strive to balance their personal lives balance with the very rocky workspace they’re in.

The previous chief, Wallace Boden, was promoted to Deputy Commissioner in season 12, leaving the spot open for a new performer to take on the role of the new chief. Mulroney joins series regulars David Eigenberg, Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, Joe Miñoso, Christian Stolte, Hanako Greensmith, and Jocelyn Hudon, who entered the show in the most recent season. The show is part of the family of shows that take place around public services in Chicago, including Chicago JusticeChicago Med, and Chicago P.D., which is run by Wolf Entertainment, the producing studio behind hit procedurals like Law & Order and FBI.
