Chicago Fire, Med, PD Only Renewed for One More Season, Fans Concerned

The renewal seems like good news, but we can’t keep fooling ourselves any longer.

NBC’s One Chicago shows have all been running for over a decade now, and they have a strong fan base and viewership. There was little doubt that the network would renew them again, but the recent news isn’t as good as it seems. Fans are genuinely concerned for the One Chicago universe: all three TV shows were only renewed for one season, and rightfully so.

One Chicago Shows Renewed for One Season

Dick Wolf’s One Chicago trio of shows all received NBC’s blessing to keep running for one more season each, according to Deadline’s report. Chicago Fire, Med, and PD will officially extend for Seasons 13, 10, and 12, respectively, but unlike in the previous years, they weren’t given the benefit of the doubt to have multi-season renewals this time.

While the viewership scores of all three shows are doing well, fans are certainly not feeling well about the One Chicago’s future. The shows haven’t been doing well in terms of storylines in the past few seasons and the discontent only grows stronger.

One Chicago Fans Feel Grim About Its Future

Combined, the one-season renewal which was unusual for Dick Wolf’s shows in the past and the quality decline fans have been noticing lately have the One Chicago community concerned. On one hand, folks are happy to learn their favorite characters will stay for at least one more season; on the other hand, the overall direction doesn’t look too promising.

Most One Chicago fans agree with them, and some even criticize NBC for renewing the shows instead of “letting them ride off into the sunset.” At this point, many viewers would prefer the One Chicago shows receiving a satisfying conclusion rather than watch them drag on for a few more seasons and get increasingly worse.
