Home and Away fans divided over current storyline: ‘Miss the old ones’

Is it time to retire the genetically blessed River Boys?

Home and Away fans are once again having a spirited debate on a Facebook fan page, discussing whether the new River Boys are living up to the hype of the ones from seasons past.

The show has now seen a few different eras of River Boys, most notably the original crew that first arrived in Summer Bay in 2011 made up of the Braxton brothers, Darryl (aka Brax), Heath, and Casey. Later on the name lived on through Dean Thompson and ex-River Boy Colby Thorne, and even more recently a new batch of River Boys have descended after they arrived in Summer Bay to help Mali out of a spot of trouble.

Not all Home and Away fans though are happy with the new additions, with River Boy Rory striking up a romance with Felicity Newman, while antagonising her police officer brother, Cash.

Fans debate Home and Away’s new River Boys

In a Facebook group, fans have debated the new crew with some defending them and others saying they miss the old gang.

“I don’t like the new River Boys. I miss the old ones such as Dean, Brax and Heath,” one person commented. “The new river boys should be arrested but I do love Heath, Brax and Dean,” another agreed.

“I definitely prefer Dean, brax, Heath and Casey when they all were River Boys, not the same without them all, wish they all would come back,” another complained. (Maybe Casey could come back as a ghost?)

“Dean should come back and see if he can pull these other River Boys into line,” another said. “Miss the old boys they were great actors too!” one fan enthused.

Some, however, stuck up for the new crew. “If I remember we all said similar about the first but ended up liking them so give them a chance,” one person pointed out. “I’m not complaining having Rory to look at,” one thirsty fan said. “Good to see some new blood!” another said.

I’m sure we can all agree, regardless of whether you’re a fan of the original River Boys, there’s something in the water over at Mangrove River that breeds criminally attractive men. Good for them.
