Phyllis and Nick’s relationship is in a difficult spot. Phyllis is desperate to partner up with Cane so she can build up some of her own wealth. In a stunning twist, she could end up as the Newmans’ biggest threat rather than Cane. The Young and the Restless star Joshua Morrow teased what’s to come.

Complex Relations

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Morrow teased that things will get even more complicated for his onscreen persona, Nick, and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). She’s working with Cane (Billy Flynn), who wants to take over everyone’s companies. He especially has his eye on Newman Enterprises. Although Cane called off his plan to take over all the businesses in Genoa City, Phyllis is about to become desperate, which could be dangerous for the Newmans.

She could convince Cane to continue their plan. Or, she could pursue her own plan to create an A.I. that could outwit anyone, even Victor (Eric Braeden). She just found out what artificial intelligence entails, which could bring disastrous results. “The dynamics in play with that are going to be very fascinating to see how it plays out. Because I wonder myself, how far is Nick willing to go to protect the family if Phyllis proves to be a full-blown enemy? What does that look like for Nick?”

Stuck In The Middle

As always, Nick will want to protect Phyllis. “He knows that sometimes she is her own worst enemy. He knows that sometimes she doesn’t make the best choices when it comes to her future and her life,” Morrow explained. But Phyllis is going to do what Phyllis is going to do. She doesn’t need protection, even when she’s having a lapse in judgment.

Eventually, her choices will affect Nick and his family. “The fact that Phyllis is seemingly turning her back on Nick, and looks like she wants to join forces and attack the Newman family, will never sit well with Nick,” the actor added. At the same time, Nick will try to protect his family, which could create a “dicey” situation in which he has to choose sides.
