Newer viewers may have been like, “Huh? Who the heck is this?” But from 1997-2007, Cassie was a major player on the soap. She was born to Sharon and her high-school boyfriend Frank Barritt and given up for adoption. Years later, mother and daughter were reunited by Sharon’s frenemy, Grace Turner, who became so attached to the moppet that she wanted to keep Cassie for herself!

In 2003, while Cassie was happily being raised by Sharon and then-husband Nick Newman, she finally met her father, who was suddenly interested in forming a relationship with her. As luck would have it — bad luck for Frank! — Sharon was at the time being stalked by Cameron Kirsten, who murdered him and framed the object of his obsession.

At age 14, Cassie found herself on the outs with the “in” crowd. She could act older all she liked, but that didn’t make her any older. One fateful night, she decided to drive her drunk crush Daniel Romalotti home. Not even having her license yet, it didn’t go well. She ultimately died from injuries sustained in the car crash. Not until 2014 would Sharon learn that she hadn’t given birth to one but two babies when she was a kid.
