The Young and The Restless: Could Nikki Newman Be After Jack?

Will Jack and Diane have trouble in the form of Nikki?

Nikki is not doing well on The Young and the Restless.

She’s been kidnapped, drugged, traumatized, and fallen off the wagon.

And then there’s Victor, telling her he doesn’t like how she’s handling her disease, and he also doesn’t like her AA sponsor. Is it any wonder Nikki has turned to Jack for support? Could she also be thinking about trading in her current husband for one of her favorite exes?

Even if Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) isn’t deliberately coming between Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters), the problem is keeping why they’re suddenly spending so much time together a secret could still raise Diane’s suspicions (she can be THIS calm for just so long). Which will make her act in irrational ways in order to hold onto her man. Does anybody really need a return of the Diane who acts in irrational ways to hold onto her man?

Jack has convinced himself that Diane is the love of his life. But is she, really? Could that position just as easily be filled by Nikki? Especially now that they are spending so much time together? Especially now that she is leaning on him in a manner she never did while they were married? Nikki is allowing Jack to play the hero. Jack likes playing hero. Diane isn’t meeting that particular need of his anymore. So what does she expect?

Good and True

But when it comes down to the wire, nothing is going to happen between Jack and Nikki. Not only because Victor (Eric Braeden) wouldn’t allow it, but because that’s not the kind of man Jack is anymore. Jack is loyal to Diane. He forgave her so much. It proves how much he loves her. Jack will play hero for Nikki but as a friend. And he will remain devoted to Diane romantically.
