Fatherly Love?
Victor (Eric Braeden) claims to love his family and to do anything for them, but he has a funny way of showing it. Sadly, the patriarch doesn’t know what “love” means. Love means that you forgive your family and allow them to do whatever they please, even if that means they date someone from an opposing family.
Victor hasn’t been shy about his feelings for Claire’s (Hayley Erin) relationship with Kyle (Michael Mealor). He hired Audra (Zuleyka Silver) to seduce Kyle. He dangled a pretty prize in front of her face: the keys to Vibrante. But she’s failed at her mission. That hasn’t stopped her from trying, though.
An exasperated Claire told her mom about what happened at Society. She saw Audra grab Kyle and kiss him on the lips. Victor claims he doesn’t want his granddaughter’s heart to get broken, but he’s the one who’s already doing it for her. Everything that Victor does isn’t for the love of his family; it’s for his own interests. He wants control of them. He’s not a father; he’s an authoritarian.
Warming His Cold Heart
Victoria (Amelia Heinle) hoped to talk some sense into her father. She showed up at his estate to accuse him of trying to break up Kyle and Claire. She’s familiar with this situation; she’s been down that road too many times before. Victoria told Victor that his trying to make Kyle look bad is hurting Claire.
Unsurprisingly, Victor doesn’t see anything wrong with his actions. Victoria reminded him of the times when she cut him off in the past. But Victor said he loves Claire and only wanted to protect her from the big, mean Abbotts. But Victoria fears that Claire will want nothing to do with him.
Kill ‘Em With Kindness
Victor claimed that everything he does is out of love, which, of course, he’s wrong. He doesn’t want Claire to end up with a broken heart. Victoria then slapped her father with the truth: She told him that he’s the one breaking Claire’s heart, not Kyle. Victor told his daughter that it wasn’t a kind thing to say, but he had to hear the truth.
But she hopes that she can kill him with kindness. Victor understands that his history with the Abbotts doesn’t mean that Kyle will betray Claire. Victoria begs her father to let go of his burning hatred for Kyle. The two embrace, and Victor’s cold heart warms for a brief moment. But will it last?
