Wayne Northrop Passes Away, GH’s Lynn Herring’s Husband & DOOL’s First Roman Brady Dies At 77

 

Days of Our Lives spoilers and news reveals Wayne Northrop, DOOL’s first Roman Brady and also Alex North, has died at age 77. Also known for his roles on Port Charles, a spinoff of General Hospital as Rex Stanton, he was married to Lynn Herring, most recently GH’s Lucy Coe.

The publicist for the beloved soap star, Cynthia Snyder, has announced that he passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Motion Picture and Television Woodland Hills Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

His wife, actress Lynn Herring Northrop, of General Hospital, shared in a heartfelt statement, “Wayne was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s six years ago-he took his final breath surrounded by his family.”

She expressed deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Motion Picture and Television Home for their exceptional care.

Lynn also noted “Wayne had a remarkable ability to connect with others through his humor and charm. He was a devoted husband for 43 years, an incredible father to his two sons, Hank and Grady, and a rancher who cherished his cows and formed lasting friendships.”

Northrop is well-remembered for his portrayal of the tough yet compassionate Detective Roman Brady on DOOL, a role he held from 1981 to 1984, with a return from 1991 to 1994.

He made another comeback as Dr. Alex North from 2005 to 2006, who was a medical school classmate of Roman’s wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, played by Deidre Hall.

In addition to this, he took on the role of chauffeur Michael Culhane in the first season of Dynasty in 1981, later reprising it in Season 7.

His impressive resume includes appearances in The Waltons as Jeb, Hotel as Ross Reynolds and Mike Passmore, L.A. Law as Lieutenant Bill Ringstrom, and Cold Case, and Rex Stanton on Port Charles.Notably, in 1995, he portrayed himself in the made-for-TV movie “Never Say Never: The Deidre Hall Story,” where Deidre also played her own role.
