Disrespect For Chance
It’s been two weeks since Chance’s (Conner Floyd) death. The detective was gunned down by Carter (Vincent Stalba) during a showdown at Cane’s (Billy Flynn) chateau. With Chance, a legacy character and a well-respected member of Genoa City, one would assume there’d be a big memorial for him.
Well, there was, but just not onscreen.
On the August 14th episode, Christine (Lauralee Bell) revealed details about Chance’s offscreen funeral. According to what was said, Chance’s memorial took place in Los Angeles, where his mother, Nina (Tricia Cast), now lives. Chance’s grandmother, Jill (Jess Walton), was among the guests at the service.
Y&R opting not to show Chance’s funeral infuriated fans, who expressed their anger on X.
“Funeral offscreen. No one is mourning him onscreen. You’d think Chance was just a random day player,” wrote one fan.
“So, Chance dies and we don’t get to see Nina and Jill wailing? We just hear about it? Sigh,” declared one viewer.
“They did Chance absolutely wrong! May as well had put him in a Hefty bag and sat him on the curb outside the Chancellor mansion,” another fan wrote.
“Why in the world is Cricket the one announcing #Chance’s funeral details? We were all cheated. It’s BS,” one user replied.
Chance isn’t the only character who recently had an offscreen funeral. Damian’s (Jermaine Rivers) memorial took place in Chicago with just Amy (Valarie Pettiford) and Nate (Sean Dominic). Then there was Cole’s (J. Eddie Peck) funeral. But fans did get to see Claire (Hayley Erin), Victoria (Amelia Heinle), and the Newmans mourn his death.
Chance’s death has been treated like an afterthought in the aftermath of the France trip. While everyone is trying to move forward, Nina is without a son, and Jill is without a grandson. It would’ve been nice to see Genoa City come together to pay their respects to the fallen Chancellor hero.
