Cane’s kids want nothing to do with him. Fans of The Young and the Restless think their reaction is silly. Instead, they would like to see the soap follow in the footsteps of the popular HBO Max series, Succession.

Lost The Plot?

Y&R fans aren’t buying the fact that Mattie (ex-Levie Stevenson) and Charlie (ex-Noah Alexander Gerry) wouldn’t be cool with their father being a billionaire. He didn’t lie and cheat them. He built his own empire and became a billionaire. One fan had an interesting suggestion for this storyline on Reddit. “I think it would be more like Billions or Succession, and his kids would be there with him. Follow the money, people!”

One fan responded, “The entire Dumas plot line ended up a dud. Even if you like the Cane reveal, everything they’ve done since, from killing Damon to the Nick and Sharon subplot to the infinite number of trains or Alice in Wonderland maze garden, has just been ridiculous.”

Another blunt fan wrote, “Charlie and Mattie are being whining brats. I hope he leaves all his money to Sam.” In fact, that would be a brilliant twist. This could have them crawling back to Genoa City. Someone else joked, “I’m waiting for them to show up, looking like 40-year-olds. Lol.”

Money Isn’t Everything

Some Y&R fans argued about the kids’ humble beginnings. Despite Cane’s and Lily’s (Christel Khalil) successes, they weren’t always a rich family. Cane’s kids are probably angry that he’s another billionaire, which the world doesn’t need. Maybe they don’t share his interests in wealth, power, and success.

“I agree that it’s a silly storyline, but for some people, money is not everything. Charlie and Mattie would have preferred that Cane not blow them off to make money. That’s their right. Cane has also hurt them many times in the past with his lies and schemes,” one person wrote.

Regardless, it would be fun to see the kids show up and fight over their dad’s billions. But they maintain the fact that he was a deadbeat father who wasn’t there for their graduation.
